Well thanks for the input, but i decided to build this custom anyway! got the body, neck is on its way, and got an edge trem for $61! the purple and green dimarzios will be taken off my 90' 550 (originals will be put but back in)
Can I ask where you got an edge trem? I am looking into buying a JEM body but most of them only accomodate the original edge trems and not the new edge trems.

YOu can get them on the bay but I have seen some on there that dont have the "Floyd Rose pat." text on the top by the fine tunners. Whats up with that?

Each swirl artist has their own style which is clearly shown in the paintjob. This swirl of mine is very unique. On the left, Then green changes shades and gives a smooth rolling hill feel. The purplish color flows like a river alongside the rolling hills. where the two meet below the trem there are "Tears of Vibrance" of purple and black.

 I knew someone would bring up Steve's guitars ;)

Some of the customs that have brought the most $ have been LGM customs and Herc creations from what I've seen.

I always wanted the original Diablo Jem and the Tribute 911 Jem. I think those two are two of the most well known aftermarket Jems besides the ones the Steve owns.
Yup!

Herc's Diablo is bad ass!

And for this thread... build the guitar for you bro, not everyone else!
It's hard enough to resell a real Jem, let alone a custom.
Good luck with it!

Nice job. I personally would have liked to seen a tighter swirl with colors more uniformly mixed, but as you say, your own style! Is the 4th attempt what you have settled on then? Cant wait to see the hardware on!

Think we could sell this idea to TLC?
A new show................ "Flip this axe"
Musicians buy used beat up guitars, have x amount of time to restore/customize it and turn it for a profit.
dont mind me..................I had one of TicTac's brownies:wink:

after doing this swirl i was still convinced that i needed to re do it. After a few days it really grew on me. The colors are more vibrant in real life and the detail is great. the headstock shows some lizard patterns but it is all green, i will be redoing that. i am undecided about the body!

Even though you guys told me to keep my jem, I'm selling it! After redoing the headstock in an awesome finish, I knew the neck and body would not go together. I did a poly clear coat and buffed to a sexy mirror like finish.

The swirl is very different. I was not 100% satisfied with the results but was anxious to finish with the clear. Now that I can create a factory-like finish, I will definitly be doing more!

Hey RG426,
i have no clue on swirling, but this thread has one interesting thing for me: is it possible to redo a swirl as often as required ? Do you have to remove the old unwanted swirl or do you place the new swirl over the old ?
